Minister KTR invited for WEF meeting

IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao will participate in the latest edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting at Davos-Klosters in Switzerland from January 21 to 24.
The theme of the meeting will be ‘Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World’ where he will take part in some key discussions, focusing on harnessing benefits of new technologies driving the fourth industrial revolution and also minimising their risks.
In his letter to Rama Rao on Sunday, WEF president Borge Brende appreciated the work done by the Minister and stated that the former’s leadership resulted in launch of several progressive initiatives in Telangana, which continues to rank high in Ease of Doing Business in the country. “Given the forum’s collaboration with your government on the ‘Medicines from the Sky’ project, your insights on this and other relevant topics will add significant value to the deliberations,” he added.
KTR expressed happiness over receiving an invitation to the meeting. “I see this invitation as a recognition of the Telangana government’s initiatives in the fields of information technology, industry, and innovation,” he said.
In the past 50 years since its inception, the WEF annual meeting has seen the world’s most impactful high-level gathering, bringing together leaders from government, international organisations, business, and civil society to shape global, regional and industry agendas at the beginning of the year.
